WHY BROKEN BOOTS?

I believe you should explore until your boots wear out. I mean hiking mountains until the laces pill, wandering cities until the soles wear through, and trekking through streams until the leather is quite literally coming apart at the seams. I believe that broken boots are proof of a life well lived.

Broken Boots Travel is a travel blog created out of a love for this type of adventure. Here you’ll find everything from practical travel tips to stories to inspire you to be a creative, thoughtful traveler. So let’s go hike some mountains, make some friends, and tell some stories, shall we?

A GRINGA ON A MISSION

Maybe you know me as that American gal trying to visit all the departments of Colombia — and, well, howdy!

Colombia is one of the most culturally, naturally, and ethnically diverse countries in the world and I’m on a mission to find out what’s unique about each of it’s 32 departments. I’ve been driving my moto Kali all over the country and producing a video for each department I visit.

Click below to learn more about the project, or give me a follow on socials to stay up to date real time!

Get Connected

I post a new department on my YouTube channel every other Thursday, but I’m also active on social media sharing stories of the people and places I’ve encountered along the way. Follow along to stay in touch!

I'm VIRGINIA

I’m originally from Virginia (yes — I know!) but currently living internationally in Colombia, previously in the United Arab Emirates.

I love off-the-beaten-track traveling, exploring places that don’t always make the top of of the “must-see” lists. My favorite travel moments always seem to be in the back of bumpy buses or wandering through local markets, and my best travel memories always include the people I met along the way.

Want to chat moving abroad? Practice Spanish together? Hear my recs for the best shawarma in Dubai? Let’s connect!
